dcterms:description |
“"Mass Equivalent" is the mass of a reference substance that is equivalent, with respect to a stated effect, to a quantity of another substance or mixture. The effect may be a chemical reaction, global-warming potential (CO2 equivalent), toxicity, or biological activity. The factor relating the equivalent mass to the actual mass of the substance measured depends on that substance and on the chosen effect, so it is resolved at the level of an individual quantity rather than by the unit. For this reason Mass Equivalent is organized under Mass without being asserted commensurable with it, and its specializations are not commensurable with each other.” |
